The concept of working through the Numbers like Gears can show you ways they work together. Today was my lucky day to drive the vehicle with the stick shift. No it is not something new. I grew up driving a stick and drove a truck in harvest on our wheat farm every summer.
What I was thinking today was going through the gears it is like going through the numbers. Like it is following the steps to take to get things done and reach the goals you set for yourself. Planning and setting up your game plan is something like shifting the gears.
In any goal you have steps that are needed to take in order to reach it. The outcome that you set will determine what you get out of it. By knowing where you are going can make a world of difference. When you do not start with a good plan you set goals that do not form a concrete idea.
By doing this you only hunger for more. The person who goes TOO far creates a reaction that inevitably leads to a decline or disaster.
Use Number and Gears in Any Goal
There is only one solution and that is to plan for a long run. Foresee the future with as much clarity as possible. You will see where the road is taking you and your course will be on the map. Know when your goal is reached and then shift into the next goal. Finish it correctly and in the right way (or through the right set of gears) to make sure it is what you wanted.
“The ending is everything. Plan all the way to it, taking into account all the possible consequences, obstacles, and twists of fortune that might reverse your hard work and give the glory to others. By planning to the end you will not be overwhelmed by circumstances and you will know when to stop. Gently guide fortune and help determine the future by thinking far ahead. Law #29
Never let triumph go to your head though, never be tempted by the siren call of more. Know when to stop and not go past the end that was so carefully planned. When you hear the gears grind or the motor spit, you need to back down and analysis the situation. It’s not a deviation it is called greasing the wheel to set things back on a smooth track.

“Experience shows that if one foresees from far away the designs to be undertaken, one can act with speed when the moment comes to execute them.”
Cardinal Richelieu. 1585 – 1642
The power that you want to achieve is being able to overcome the natural human tendency. To react to things as they happen. In otherwords, you want to train oneself to step back, imagining the larger things taking shape beyond your immediate vision.
Do you plan and think ahead?
Do you make goals and know what you want to have?
Goals do not need to be realistic they need to be acted upon and broken down into the steps that can be. If those plans are vague, based on your imaginations rather than their reality. You may believe that you are thinking through the gears and steps, but you are really only focusing on the happy ending and deluding yourselves by its desire.
Last Gear
The end is everything. It is the end of the action that determines who gets the glory, the money, the prize. Your last gear, or conclusion must be crystal clear, and you must keep it constantly in mind. You need to figure out how the steps work in your favor. Do not let any possible crises tempt you to improvise. You need to stay on course and go through the gears in order to reach your final destination.
Start in gear one and slowly work your way up to get in the gear that you need to reach cruising speed. Sometimes stopping or shifting back down will keep the momentum going. Learn the numbers and know which one you need to be in at what time.
