Transformation of Fear | Changing Thought Into Action

Is there really something you can do to transform fear? Let’s start by changing thought into action.

Can you transform fear?  Yes! I can share with you how! It doesn’t mean that we’re going to turn our fears off, because it is important, but you don’t want fear to rule what you’re doing or where you are going.  Fear is one of life’s biggest pitfalls.

How we are going to transform your fear is with our self-talk! Changing a fear is like changing any emotion that changes our thoughts.  What we’re going to do is replace an image in your head that represents that fear, to something that overcomes that fear. Changing our thoughts into action.

We cannot discover new oceans unless we have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

Emotion of the fear that is in your head is one of the biggest responses. It’s to direct your thoughts to be fearful of what we are facing. In otherwords, when you have a fear of something, you’re thinking ahead of yourself.  You’re thinking of what that fear is going to do to you.

You are thinking that fear is going to harm you.  That fear will make you look bad. That fear will do something out of the ordinary. But is it true? What you need to ask yourself is how can I adjust my thoughts and my emotions of that fear.  Change it so you’re not fearful of it anymore.

This is a great article that I was reading that spells it out a little better than I did.

The great lesson I’ve learned about fear is that courage is being afraid and doing it anyway rather than the absence of fear. This demands having a relationship with fear, or more precisely a relationship with the fears inside us. We all fear different things in different ways and without exploring those fears, where they come from and what kinds of bribes they take, we can’t have interesting lives. The people who seem the most victimized by fear are often the ones who’ve spent the least amount of time trying to understand it, or the ones most lost in the heroic mythology of attractive psychopaths with guns charging confidently over the hill towards certain victory.

Transforming Your Fear.

Some people call that affirmations. Affirmations use self-talk! It’s telling yourself every day that:

You’re going to do something,

You’re going to accomplish something,

You can attract anything,

It is whatever you do in the mornings to get yourself going and give your mind the outcome of your day. That is self-talk. This blog post goes into more on affirmations.   When you want to overcome that fear if the self-talk isn’t helping or if you’re not really thinking it, then another strategy that I’m learning is pattern interrupt.

That is your self-conscious following what you are doing all the time. And when you’re consciously following yourself and reacting to different things, then you can see what makes you fearful of where you’re going.  Have you ever heard someone say “That was scarier than I thought?” NO! Usually the other way around. Once they started to do it or just went for it. They get that sense of accomplishment and pride that “wow, look at what I did”!

This is how you interrupt that thought and stop the pattern of fear by replacing it with a pattern of strengths. A pattern of “I’m going to go for it!”, a pattern of “I have this and I’m going to overcome that!”

Changing Thought Into Action?

Here is part of a book called “Loving What Is” By Byron Katie. She wrote about coming out of a great depression and turned it around by just changing her thoughts.

Simply four questions that, when applied to a specific problem, enable you to see what is troubling you in an entirely different light. As Katie says, “It’s not the problem that causes our suffering; it’s our thinking about the problem.” Contrary to popular belief, trying to let go of a painful thought never works; instead, once we have done The Work, the thought lets go of us. At that point, we can truly love what is, just as it is.

Have you thought of your thoughts today?  Have you walked through your day and really watched what you do, and why you do it? What did you learn and did anything come from it? Did you see yourself going a different route because of some fear?

What I want you to think about from the lesson today is that if there is something that you really really want, and something you really want to go for, then what is stopping you?  What can you change in your head to feel in sync deep down into your body and your heart, to say I want this bad enough that I’m going to go for it.

Pick yourself up, know where you want to go, and go for it! Because that’s what life is! Don’t hold yourself back, give it your all! Overcome your fears and have what you truly want in life, because it’s there for you.  Learn how to overcome certain fears and be able to have a change in life that will help you stand strong and grow.
