Do you start your own attitude in the morning? There are a number of things that come into play that can influence how and why your attitudes form.
Morning Routine: Do you have affirmations that you say every morning first thing? Is your morning routine the same dreaded thing or do you change it up to make it pleasing?
Experience:
Attitudes form directly as a result of experience. They may emerge from your experience, or from things around you that you observe.
Social Factors:
Social roles and social norms can have a strong influence on attitudes. Social roles relate to how people are expected to behave. Social norms are how society set it up for you.
Learning:
Attitudes can be learned in a variety of ways. Consider how advertisers use classical conditioning to influence your attitude toward a particular product. In a television commercial, you see young, beautiful people having fun in on a tropical beach while enjoying a sports drink.
This kind of imagery causes you to have a positive association with this particular beverage.
“Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure. The way you think about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. You are overcome by the fact because you think you are.” Norman Vincent Peale
Operant conditioning can also be used to influence how attitudes develop. Imagine a young man who just started smoking. Whenever he lights up a cigarette, people complain, chastise him and ask him to leave their vicinity. The negative feedback from those around him cause him to develop an unfavorable opinion of smoking and he decides to give up the habit.
Finally, people also learn attitudes by observing the people around them. When someone you admire greatly espouses a particular attitude, you are more likely to develop the same beliefs. For example, children spend a great deal of time observing their parents and usually begin to demonstrate attitudes.

How Do Attitudes Influence Behavior?
We assume that people behave according to their attitudes. However, social psychologists have found that attitudes and actual behavior do not always go together. There are ways to change your attitude throughout the day.
Some Factors That Influence Your Attitude Strength
Researchers have discovered that people are more likely to behave according to their attitudes under certain conditions:
I found a post I had written quite a while ago when I first started to really analysis my attitude and I want to share a part of that here:
Conditions are:
- When your attitudes are the result of personal experience.
- When you are an expert in the subject.
- When you expect a favorable outcome.
- When the attitudes are repeatedly expressed.
- When you stand to win or lose something due to the issue.
“The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind.” Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
Attitude sets up your whole day.
