What to Expect When You Expect the Unknown

Learning to expect the unknown is just like it sounds.  Impossible, but we need to find a way.

What to Expect When You Expect the Unknown?  Life itself can have many unknowns, yet if we dwell on them, we get nothing done.  Having our mindset in the right place can help us get ready for just about anything.

In taking care of my husband with his battle of cancer, I have learned many things.  First off is to trust yourself, you’ve survived a lot and you can face what is coming.

“Your strength come from within, whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come.  Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome.”

Our unknown started with a very rare form of cancer (Soft Tissue Sarcoma) it is so rare they cannot even classify it.  So, the unknown has been with us awhile.   Through this we have adapted to expecting the unknown.

Struggling with wanting to know

We started having questions at every turn of the corner.  We didn’t know what to expect, so we started looking at how the outcome would be and go from there.  Being such a rare cancer, you were the one testing to see how it worked or how it didn’t work.

What we learned from this was to keep an open mind and learn from it to keep going.  Your own strength will surprise you.

“The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today”

We asked this many a times, “Does life slow down?”  How many things can you deal with at once?  The only answer is to throw your hands up and scream “NO MORE!”.  Believe me that really works.

Then, test yourself when you wonder how many disappointments can you take?  Then remember there are others who made it through worse.  Start looking around and listen to the stories.

Creating a good mindset with determination to always want to learn more, will help it work with you and not against you.  Remember your WHY.  (I will explain this in another post)  Keeping the fight on will help you keep sane and realize there are lots of unknowns in the world, but we are always learning to improve.   How can you help?

The unknown can have ups and downs

I wish I had more of a journal to help me remember all the little things.  Memory only gives me bits and pieces, then again there are things I really don’t want to remember.

What will today bring.  One of the hardest things for me to do was to sit and watch him breathe. Wondering how he feels and how much energy he will have.  Learning to read the signs and wishing you could know what he was thinking.

It seemed that each symptom that came would bring on different effects.  Willingness to adapt made life easier.  Life is what you make of it.  Here is a book worth reading: You Are the Placebo: Making Your Mind Matter  by Dr Joe Dispenza

“Let go of who you were to become who you will be”

What to Expect When You Expect the Unknown?  Life itself can have many unknowns, yet if we dwell on them, we get nothing done.  Having our mindset in the right place can help us get ready for just about anything.

In the end people will judge you anyway.  Don’t live your life impressing others, live your life impressing yourself.
