Feelings Don’t Show Till You Made It Through
You truly don’t know how you feel about something till it happens or someone asks. Yet, the feelings don’t show till you made it through.
True feelings happen when you are true to yourself and seeing it for what it should be, rather than an instant response. We are going to break down being true to yourself and seeing your feelings open up with each emotion. If you feel you need more, Check this out.
Feelings don’t show
Do your quick responses show your feelings or are they just a reflex? In other words, are you being true to yourself or giving others what they want to hear?
Let’s take this a step further and look out ourselves. It takes commitment and re-commitment each and every moment to show yourself to others the way you see yourself. Don’t get me wrong, but think about it. Have you ever said something and then later asked why or wanted to take it back?
Being true to your feelings takes an honest look at how you feel, deeply feel and then communicating those feelings. For instance, you need to cultivate a deep and trusting relationship with yourself.
Gain alignment with your feelings
To gain more of your true feelings, we need to be aware of who we are on the inside. Let’s take a moment and sit still. Be calm and listen to what your brain is trying to tell you. For instance, it should be an emotion rather than a thought.
We need to become aware of things that may disconnect us and may get in our way. Hence, keep these in mind as you go through your day.
- You worry constantly about what people think
- Feel resentful of all you have to do
- You’re not sure if you are bored, sad or just exhausted
- Dreams seem silly or irrelevant
- You feel ‘selfish” asking for what you want
- You are being pulled in a million directions
Made it Through
How do we ask ourselves if we made it through. Or better yet how does it hit us that we did make it through?
Think of it as a gut feeling, a quick exercise you can go back to whenever you feel like being drowned out by expectations around you. Ask these questions just every now and then.
- When I reach a certain age, will I regret not listening to my heart?
- Will you recall lost opportunities and dreams as unfulfilled? Were they just lies you made to yourself to stay safe, comfortable or likeable?
Just as you cannot love anyone else until you love yourself, you cannot be true to anyone else until you are true to yourself. In other words, begin by not being afraid to be who you are.
As difficult as this may seem, you truly don’t know how you feel about something till it happens or someone asks. Yet, the true feelings don’t show till you made it through.
Keep Smiling
Sandy
