How To Relieve Frustrations in Day to Day Living
How to relieve frustrations in day to day living shouldn’t be hard, RIGHT? For instance, Have you ever had something just eat at you all day, day after day? How do you get it to STOP! It is like that annoying song stuck in your head.
Hate having things that take over my time, I thought it was not being organized or just too many things to do. Hence being overwhelmed had to be the problem. Butl, to tell you the truth, it wasn’t.
Planner Frustrations
I tried one planner after another. Some looked awesome and gave you lots of ways to sort out your day or get that inspiration to keep it up. Things were good for about two days and then all of a sudden it was a week and I hadn’t solved anything or even opened the planner to keep going.
Then I got the wall charts. Had one on my desk, my fridge, my phone. Guess what! Didn’t work either. What was I to do next?
Reminder Frustrations
This is where the apps come into play. Have you ever wondered why this industry is so large? In other words, “there is an app for that” is a saying that everyone has heard. I just can’t find the right one for me.
I set up the reminders and then when they pop up it is at a most inconvenient time to handle that, then it’s gone and out of my memory. Even changing the time to be more convenient, still didn’t work. So much for helping get that thing out of my head and remember the things I needed to.
Relieve Frustrations
What I have found to truly work and get those things out of your brain that stop you or keep you thinking of just one thing you need. “It is a journal.” Not just any journal. One that you create. I prefer just a plan paper one. You can find them just about anywhere you look. It doesn’t have to be expensive or have a cute picture on each page, but just something you can write in.
That is what I said, write in it. There is something to be said when you pick up a pen and paper and write it down. It acts like an extension of your brain. Hence, you will get it out of the front of your brain and be able to think of something else.
When your frustration is gone and your mind is clear, things seem to flow. Your memory is better and the productivity is blooming.
I found that journaling takes a little practice, but once you have that journal in front of you or in your purse, you start writing more and more. The feeling is uplifting and you start writing everything down. For instance, your frustrations and your joys.
Journaling effect
I can remember the biggest effect this had for me. It was an issue that was haunting me. I could do nothing about it but worry. After a couple of weeks it seemed to be consuming me and even frightening, so much so that I saw a professional.
Their advice was to breathe and do relaxation exercises. No, that didn’t help either. It did get me to breathe, but I still had that issue in my mind.
I took to the paper and said “I need to tell the world” even though the world didn’t need to hear it. So, I just started writing. Everytime that issue came into my thoughts I would write down what I was thinking. Didn’t matter how long it was or how it would be read, no one was going to read it, so I let it all out. It took almost a week, but the issue started to diminish and not overwhelm me anymore.
Frustrations Gone
I was on top of it looking down. In other words, the issue didn’t seem quite so haunting and my worry was being handled. Now I know that if there is an issue that I have no control over, I need to just write it out and release it.
I have a favorite saying: “Control the things you can and release the things you cannot!” When you learn how to relieve frustrations in day to day living, you become freer and life can happen your way with a smile.
Keep Smiling
