Road Trip Spur
What is a Road Trip Spur? How about if I say it a little differently. A spur of the moment Road Trip. Sound better? The best place to focus.
Have you ever taken a road trip? ok, probably yes, but how Spontaneous?
– no planning
– no real packing
Just jumped in and off you went. For instance, some might call that a sudden impulse or an impromptu idea. For me, something fun to do when you need to clear your mind.
Spur of the moment has meaning
Let’s back up a minute. I want to point out the expression. ” Spur of the moment” has been around since 1801. Hence, just the actual word ‘Spur” since the 1500’s.
Spur meant an ankle or a kick. A thing that moved other things. Like the spurs on boots to get horses to move. Today we use this expression to urge forward. For Example, an abrupt about face or go on an assumption or a feeling.
My spur of the moment can be a vision or a set of ideas. Do we call them abrupt or unannounced? Maybe but if it is worth acting on them why not go for it.
Acting on your spur
Get moving, working on that sudden impulse. Hence, acting on an idea or responding to that shiny object that caught your eye. Things like this will trigger an inspiring thought or a memory you need to remember.
Spontaneous acting can be a lot of fun, but we need to keep it in focus. For instance, starting too many new projects gets nothing done. Another thing to focus on is what some call, “The Shiny object syndrome”! Too many spontaneous moments and adventurous times leads to wasted time.
Limit Road Trip Spurs.
Road trips are fun , and yes we all need to do them, yet keep them in perspective. Life is one opportunity after another. Make your goals and then use your road trip spurs to get creative.
Keep Smiling
Sandy
