Have you ever had a life changing experience that was so deep it impacted you in ways you never knew existed? In other words, a time that shows you how to give more than to receive.
Our book club was to read a book called “A Walk to Remember”. (I have a link later in the read.) It was such a heart warming story that I couldn’t put it down. Here is an insight for you …
“There was a time when the world was sweeter….when the women in Beaufort, North Carolina, wore dresses, and the men donned hats…. Every April, when the wind smells of both the sea and lilacs, Landon Carter remembers 1958, his last year at Beaufort High. Landon had dated a girl or two, and even once sworn that he’d been in love. Certainly the last person he thought he’d fall for was Jamie, the shy, almost ethereal daughter of the town’s Baptist minister….Jamie, who was destined to show him the depths of the human heart-and the joy and pain of living. The inspiration for this novel came from Nicholas Sparks’s sister: her life and her courage. From the internationally bestselling author Nicholas Sparks, comes his most moving story yet…”
Life Can Give More
It got me thinking about all the situations I have been through in life and what lessons I received. How would I have handled falling for someone only to lose them soon after. The way life changes you to give more than you will ever get back.
When our book club got together to discuss this, the one who brought it had gone through a similar story. We talked about helping ones live great in their final moments and how we can help others do that as well. In other words, life can be short for all of us, so make the most of every minute.
Sharing Wishes to Give Others Peace
There are many things in life that are out of our hands. I want to pass on a document a friend shared that gives you a way to control something very important, and how you are treated if you get seriously ill.
It’s called “Five Wishes” Mainly set for your family or people who are very close to you. It is a way to give more and answer the tough questions so they don’t have to guess. They receive the protection from making decisions.
Here are the questions that make your Wishes known to others:
- The person I want to make care decisions for me when I can’t
- The kind of medical treatment I want or don’t want
- How comfortable I want to be
- How I want people to treat me
- What I want my loved ones to know
Share this with others for you never know when life will turn left and situations are flipped. It was a big surprise when it happened to me.
Giving More
There are many ways to give more to people. I have a page with a few ideas. And this one helps also. Yet, smiling is the best thing I do. It warms up conversations and relieves tension. Hence, if nothing else, put on a smile.
Sandy
P.S. look around my sight, many things to share to help through adversity
