Holding Ground and Going After

Life can be hard, obstacles can be even harder, but when do you need to hold your ground and go after what you want?    Might seem like a hard thing to do, but necessary in many ways.

Reading through my past I can see how the circle of life can control your thoughts and actions.  It boils down to experience and expertise?   What have you learned?

Holding Ground 

There are certain qualities that someone needs to have, or develop, to make success in whatever they are doing.  Here is a list to see where you fit and then what needs work

  1. Sense of gratitude and acceptance of failures 
  2. Compliment and forgive 
  3. Give others credit for their victories and want them to succeed 
  4. Share information 
  5. Keep a “to do list” and a “to be list”
  6. Get goals and develop life plans and embrace change
  7. Learn everyday and journal your progress 

Qualities like this stem on how you feel about yourself and your self image.  There are many ways to build on this and change into the person that you want to be.  

Going After

Time to stretch yourself and go after the things you want.  Just remember these few things.

All humans are motivated to seek pleasure and avoid pain, yet it takes pain to motivate change.  Also, we seek acceptance and avoid rejection, yet rejection motivates change.   And, we seek hope and avoid fear.  Yet, fear too motivates change.

Running around finding pleasure just brings more pain and stress than calmness will gather if we let it.  You need some pain, some rejection and the fear to help create that change.  Stop worrying about what we can not control.

The Pivot Point

A pivot point is the start to pursue a new path.  Yes, stepping into the great unknown,  it all starts with you.  It comes from the words you say to yourself.  Yes, your self talk.

Our words create action.  Words create intimacy or separation.  They can calm or excite us.  Words can change direction for doing things.  So, watch what you think and be aware of the words that come from those thoughts, and then the actions that follow.   

That circle can direct you to where you want to go.  If not you are aware of what pivot you need and start thinking the new way.  

Stop, think, and then do.   Haste will cause waste.  I know we have all heard this and it is so true.  I leave you thinking and slowing down to be aware and hold your ground to go after what you want.

Look around, there are many things for you to ponder on and read.

Life changes all the time, some good and some bad.  However, most of it we can control or adapt to as we grow.   Then there are moments that are of the unknown.

Dealing with children, aging parents, dementia and cancer of a loved one, you tend to know change well.  In other words, if you learn to accept it and know that it is coming, it won’t hit you so hard.

Adversity comes in many forms and people handle it all different.  Adversity can be more than just difficulty or setback.   It can form a series of misfortunes that keep you from achieving lifes adventures or finding happiness. Everyone experiences adversity at some point, yet with hard work and the right mindset it can be overcome. 

Regardless of your situation, you do have a choice to either let adversity define you or you define it.   I am here to help you smile through your journey of adversity and teach you create the power to overcome pain and work through it to the other side.
